Behind the Pattern: Is it Leaves or Coastal Sea Fans?

I began this pattern with a simple idea: create a wavy, leafy motif that would fit neatly inside a scallop or fan shape.

As I drew the lines, the design started to feel less than completely botanical. The branching forms could have been leaves, but they also reminded me of sea fans, coral, or some sort of underwater plant moving with the current.

Rather than choosing one direction, I decided to keep the pattern somewhere in between.

The finished motif has the structure of a scallop, the rhythm of flowing leaves, and a subtle aquatic quality. Depending on the colorway, it can feel earthy, coastal, retro, or abstract.

I created the design in ten color combinations so the same pattern could have different moods for different spaces, while keeping its soft, wavy movement.

That in-between quality is now my favorite part of the design. It does not have to be one specific thing—it can simply be a flowing organic pattern shaped by both plant-like leaves and the sea.

The result is 10 colorways, designed for wallpaper, fabric and nature-inspired interiors.
